Graphics Card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Specifications, The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 will be the next-generation high-end gaming graphics card, featuring Ada Lovelace GPUs and the newest graphics architecture. The graphics card will take the place of the RTX 3070, a popular gaming graphics card in the $500-$600 price range in the United States.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Graphics Card – Designed Specifically For Gamers. While there is no denying the excitement surrounding the GeForce RTX 4090 and GeForce RTX 4080 series graphics cards, which offer the best of the best gaming performance, the RTX 4070 series graphics cards will be designed for the $500 US segment, which is a high-end price range with plenty of performance.

The RTX 4090 series will be aimed at customers who want the best of the best without having to worry about their budget, whilst the RTX 4080 series will be focused at users who want the best gaming performance at the lowest possible price. The RTX 4070 will be the sweet spot for high-end gaming, with buttery smooth 2K games.

The previous GeForce RTX 3070 was billed as a significant upgrade over the RTX 2070, with performance quicker than the RTX 2080 Ti, but it ended up being basically on par with the Turing flagship, with only the RTX 3070 Ti outperforming the previous Turing GPU flagship.

It appears that the RTX 4070 will be placed in a similar situation, with graphics performance on par with or near to the RTX 3080 Ti, but with a ‘Ti’ variant that outperforms the RTX 3080 Ti.

Similar things should be expected from the next-generation gaming solution, but one thing to keep in mind is that GPUs are growing more power hungry and expensive. It’s a trend that may continue in the future as we develop better goods, but there will always be a price to pay for end users. So, to begin with what we know so far, let’s look at the brand new Ada Lovelace or AD10* class GPUs that will power the next-generation GeForce RTX 40 series cards.

The Next-Gen Powerhouse: NVIDIA’s AD104 ‘Ada Lovelace’ GPU

Starting with the GPU, the AD104 GPU core is stated to be used in the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 series graphics cards. The GPU is expected to be roughly 300mm2 in size and will use the TSMC 4N manufacturing node, which is an improved version of the green team’s 5nm (N5) node.

The Ada Lovelace AD104 GPU from NVIDIA is estimated to have up to 5 GPC (Graphics Processing Clusters). This GPU has one GPC less than the GA104 GPU. Each GPU will have the same configuration as the current chip, with 6 TPCs and 2 SMs. Each SM (Streaming Multiprocessor) will have four sub-cores, similar to the GA102 GPU. The FP32 and INT32 core configurations have changed. Each sub-core will have 128 FP32 units, for a total of 192 FP32+INT32 units. This is due to the fact that the FP32 and IN32 units do not share the same sub-core. The 128 FP32 cores and the 64 INT32 cores are separate.

As a result, each sub-core will have a total of 48 units, with 32 FP32 and 16 INT32 units. Each SM will have 192 units in total, with 128 FP32 units and 64 INT32 units. We’re looking at 7,680 FP32 units and 3,840 INT32 units for a total of 11,520 cores, given there are 60 SM units (12 per GPC). Each SM will have two Wrap Schedules (32 thread/CLK) for a total of 64 wraps. In comparison to the GA102 GPU, this represents a 50% increase in cores (FP32+INT32) and a 33% increase in Wraps/Threads.

Moving on to the cache, NVIDIA has delivered a significant gain over current Ampere GPUs in this area. The Ada Lovelace GPUs will have 192 KB of L1 cache per SM, which is 50% more than the Ampere GPUs. On the top AD104 GPU, there’s a total of 2 MB of L1 cache. According to the leaks, the L2 cache will be extended to 48 MB. This represents a 12x improvement over the Ampere GA104 GPU, which only has 4 MB of L2 cache. The cache will be shared between all GPUs.

Finally, the ROPs have been doubled to 32 per GPC, which is a 2x increase over Ampere. There are up to 160 ROPs compared to only 96 on the GA104 Ampere GPU. The Ada Lovelace GPUs will also include the latest 4th Generation Tensor and 3rd Generation RT (Raytracing) cores, which will help enhance DLSS and Raytracing performance to the next level. Overall, the Ada Lovelace AD103 GPU will provide the following benefits:
